My Vaillant central
heating system is fairly new and works ok. No one including the installer knows why it makes a thump if turn on a hot
water tap when the heating is on. There is no thump when the heating is off.

Air in the pipes is a common cause
Dont worry, theres nothing wrong.
its only making a noise because of the water pressure varying as you turn on the tap. Try bleeding the radiators if its bugging you
(used to do plumbing)
Sounds like you have too high of water pressure entering the home. Any plumber has a gauge that can test the pressure. If it’s over 60 psi or so, you should consider installing a pressure regulator. Once your pressure is moderated, the thumping should go away.
