gas boiler

I have an old gas boiler that runs just fine. I have gotten two different ideas on what to do. One person told me to wait till it fails then replace it. The other said replace it now and save on the heating costs. Any ideas?

This would be a purely personal decision. While it is true that the older boiler is not as efficient as the newer ones, the cost of replacing could be high. You are lucky since you have a chance to get estimates to find out what the cost would be without a rush. Safety features and “state of the art” controls both come with a price. There may also be features on the old boiler that will be required to be brought up to code. Get some estimates and then make an informed decision on what you want/need.

Sure you could save gas by upgrading. The decision is up to you finiacally. The money you could save on gas will take approx. 10 years to pay you back.
