central heating

There is a tank directly above my boiler which keeps leaking as though it is boiling over and my central heating makes a very loud bang occassionally like its going to blow up. Any ideas what this could be?

check the pressure gauge. The system should be between 12 and 20lb. If it has an extrol type tank
(small cylinder with a schrader on one end) depress the schrader in the valve stem and no water should come out /if it does replace the extrol

I’m not sure about the water leak, but the loud noise may be that your burner bar has plugged “jets” where the pilot light is. What is happening is when the gas starts to go through the burner it is taking a while for it to get over by the pilot and it is basically making a small explosion. You need to get a pro to look at that. Could be serious if you let it go.
