Hi everyone! Recently moved to the UK and have a gas boiler at home. I removed the air off the radiators a while ago and boiler stopped working.
Last time this happened my landlord came and topped up water in the tank. I can’t remember how he did that :( There are several pipes and valves underneath the boiler, but can’t find which one to turn. Tried one that looked promissing and almost flooded the place. Any ideas?

I have a Baxi combi boiler (installed just over a year ago) and it has ran fine (opperating around 1.5-2bar) up until the 1 year warranty ran out (sods law!). Now when the system is off the pressure goes right down to 0bar. When I turn the heating on it goes up to 3bar. I have checked for leaks and bends/blocks in the flexi pipes (which there aren’t any) and also bled the system. When I turn the heating on (from 0bar pressure) the boiler makes cluncking sounds. Anyone have any ideas before I fork out a tonne for the plumbers? Thanks...

Obviously its a cold feed. As you let in some water you may see the pressure gauge rise. There could be a simple diagram on the boiler, possibly on the inside of a cover or on a panel that folds out? If you can identify the model of boiler, you might find a manual for it online, with a plumbing diagram.
You don’t say what type of boiler. Combi or what?.
If its combi , as most are nowadays, then there is a valve underneath…normally the second from right…but check!, and that tops up the heating side of the system. It should be set at about 1 – 1.25bar. The valve can be adjusted with a flat screwdriver and introduce the water slowly and watch the gauge. The gauge is on the front.
I am assuming you have a combi boiler that is heats the radiators and produces your hot water on demand. There is usually a filling loop which looks like a chrome flexible braided hose which links from the mains cold water pipe (15mm in diameter) to the heating return pipe(22mm in diameter) there will be a tap at the mains end open it slowly you should hear water rushing through. there is a pressure gauge on the boiler control panel. let the needle cimb to 1bar then turn off, vent the radiators and if nessecary repeat process.
Some of the most up to date combi boilers have built in filling loops. Your landlord has a legal obligation to leave you all the relevant boiler instructions.
