My flat has no central heating, i am currently using small fan heaters but they are expensive to run and as soon as they get turned off it goes cold. I need something with a timer so my room will be warm in the morning. I also would like something a bit more economical. Should i get a convector or an oil filled radiator, or slimline panel? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks... - How much is it to install central heating?
We just bought our first flat in London – one bedroom, lounge, kitchen, hall, bath – and it does not have central heating. Thought I could last the winter but its not looking like we can. when fitting central heating does the boiler have to go direct to meter or can i connect boiler to gas pipe in kitchen which runs cooker, because the boiler is being placed in the kitchen but the meter is in the front room which is about 30 feet and 6 corners away....

It is either an instant water heater (you turn on the hot tap and the boiler lights)
or
It stores hot water in a hot water cylinder (usually located in the airing cupboard)
Water from the boiler flows in coils in the hot tank
(indirect)
cold water enters at the bottom hot at the top
(direct)
add a thermostat and that’s a hot water cylinder
the hot water thermostat turns the boiler on or off
the room thermostat turns the boiler on or off
the timer turns the boiler on or off
