Yesterday our new boiler installation was completed (this is a whole other story!). Last night we sprung a pin hole leak in one of the radiators and in a bit of a panic ran downstairs and just switched the boiler and water off. Now we have isolated the radiator but cannot get the boiler back on. Being new to combi boiler systems and not even getting a run down on what to do if this sort of thing happens by our installer we are now without heat and hot water again. THe pressure thing says 0 so I am thinking we need to re fill it but how and where from I have no idea.
Any help would be appreciated as we are now waiting for a different plumber but he is very busy.

We recently had a combi boiler installed in our rented property. Initially the plumbers left the cold water feed from the tank in the loft so the combi boiler was only supplying the hot water. Unfortunately due to the differing pressures (i think), the cold water feed was excessive whilst using the shower the overflow pipe from the loft rained from the side of the house. The plumbers have since rectified that problem by removing the cold water tank and using the boiler to supply both the hot and cold. Unforunately the water pressure is now so low that it takes 30 mins to fill the bath. Also the shower now operates too hot and eventually (after a few mins) runs cold then hot again. Any help would be appreciated.... - Why does pressure of my combi boiler slowly keep going up to 3bar over a few days? It was ok when installed?
The bioler is Worcester 28CDI combi Fanned Flue RSF. The seals broke due to the 3bar pressure and was repaired by plumber. He said to bleed radiator to reduce pressure if it happens again, but this is a continual fault now.... - Is a thermostatic mixer shower or electric better for combi boiler sytem with low pressure?
I intended to fit a thermostatic mixer shower with my new combi boiler heating system. However, the plumber has advised me that the water pressure I have is so low that the water flow would be poor and that for a more enjoyable shower an electric shower would be better. Is this correct? I have sought advice from various plumbers who all give different advice. Please help....

Where the water feeds intom the boiler there should ba a feedervalve called a reducing valve. Be sure that both valves on each side ot this device is open. Youn should run about 12 lbs pressure
There is a pressure sensing switch which will keep the boiler off if pressure falls below 0.5 bar. You need to pressurise the system to 1bar. Underneath the boiler you should see a braided loop with a little valve on the loop. This loop connects the mains water to your boiler CH system. Switch boiler off, open the valve and watch the gauge until it reaches 1bar and close the loop valve. Every time you bleed air from the system you need to charge it in this way. Now switch boiler on to DHW and check hot water. when air is purged try CH. you will have to go around bleeding rads. When you have a plumber there get him to put the rust inhibitor back which will have been diluted. Good Luck
Under the boiler there should be a filling loop this is usualy a removable flexible pipe. you should be able to see where the pipe connects connect the pipe and open the valves watch the pressure guage and fill to one and a half bar. Bleed the rads and check the guage and put more pressure in if needed.Good luck.
Okay, this one is basically very easy,you need to go to the place were either your gasboiler or the storage tank is located and see if there is a silver flexible pipe ( like a garden hose but it looks as if it made out of wire mesh) which is connected to two pipes and should have a valve with a lever on one end. Now : do this carefull,switch on your boiler, which will show xero pressure and refuse to ignite, open the valve at one end of the silver pipe(on the other end is a about 2 inch long silver piece which is a one way inlet valve, do not touch this) watch the display on your boiler and shut off the valve if the pressure reached 0.85 to0.90 psi which is the normal setting for most of the boiler systems. at this point your boiler should ignite, and you may hear some burbling sounds as if air is going through the system, this is the system purging itself from airbubbles in the pipe and re-presurrizing itself.Pending on your boilersystem(you have not given the brandname of the boiler) you now may have to topp up the pressure again a little bit to bring the pressure up again. 98% of all modern boilers operate on a starting pressure of just under 1 psi. so do not exceed this.
sometimes the silver flexible pipe is not connected, in which case it is either on the ground in the waterstorage tank cabinet or wound around a pipe, in this case you will need an adjustable spanner , locate to pipes which are going straight up-down and have a short pipe sticking out the side with a brass cap on the end, one will have a valve (either a red or black-greyish handle on it) the other one the 2 inch long one way valve, use the spanner, undo the two brass caps, connect the silver flexible pipe tightly and proceed as above described.
Important: do not overpressurize your boiler (very expensive mistake) and remember to shut of the red/black valve after you have refilled the water in your boiler.
I would also recomend that you may wish to employ a different plumber than the one that installed your system to repair your rad and to check the system, and bill your original installer for it, a plumber who installs a system and fails to pressure test it is a cowboy who has no right to work in this business.

You should have a flexible pipe by the boiler, and you will find a tap on this pipe similar to a washing machine tap. Open this tap and watch the water pressure gauge on the boiler. Once the neddle is on one and a half bar, sitch the tap off, and your boiler should light up.By the way, if your rad has a pin hole in it, you will have to replace the rad. It is rusting from the insside. Not repairable.
