Get a brand-new gas boiler to keep warm this winter

We should all prepare for the winter months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. By centrally heating your home, you can make it more comfortable, inviting and relaxing.

A central heating system is basically a boiler with pipes carrying the heat to heating radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (central heating radiators). Due to heat, the water in the tank expands and fills it up.

The vented system on the other hand is a sealed system where there is no core heating. Since it is completely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. Chief advantages of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like air locks are also not associated with such systems; furthermore, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.

So you might ask what is really the point of getting gas central heating?.

The simple answer is that it will allow you to heat your entire home or office quickly without compromising the air quality. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant smell.

With gas central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your central heating system will require regular maintenance. In many homes, these systems are not used during the summer, but as soon as the wintertimes set in, they are intensely used; this should not be done. Instead it is recommended that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.

You should also keep in mind that most houses central heating systems can let air or dirt into it, therefore they need yearly draining. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
