Do you recognise the contrasting types of heating gas boilers
Central Heating systems come in various forms. These systems for the most part are made up of a number of heating radiators, pipework and of course a gas boiler.
Whilst we need heating systems air conditioners are not needed in the United Kingdom and Europe because of the average temperature throughout the year. Most of us need a decent heating supply far more; this is why the majority of new houses that are being built in this day and age are built with a Gas Central Heating System.
As autumn fades and chilly winds begin to blow, householders turn to their Central Heating for warmth and comfort. While snowstorms rage on outside, you can be safe and warm on the inside. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. You should feel that your Gas Central Heating System is safe, easy to use and long lasting.
Sealed and vented or pumped systems are the two leading types of Central Heating Systems available.
The vented/pumped one is more common of the two. A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System has a feed and expansion tank. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the radiators. When the water expands as it is heated the expansion tank allows for this. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the attic area, taking up space. It serves a dual purpose by heating the house and also supplying heated water.
Many homes feature a pumped/vented Central Heating System, particularly the ones constructed several year ago.
A sealed system is now being used in the new houses that are being built. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. There are no tanks or pipework in the attic, the whole system is sealed, its unvented, which has its benefits:.
- No risk of freezing pipes in the loft.
- No maintenance or repair work is required for the pipes and tank which would have been in the attic.
- The risk of leaks is decreased.
- As there are no open vents, air cannot enter into the system and so the risk of corroding, air locks and sludge is drastically cut.
- Can be flushed out under pressure if needed by the mains water supply.
A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. The water for a sealed Central Heating System is supplied direct from the main water supply. There is no hot water tank, so water is drawn directly from the main supply.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.
As compared to other heating systems, Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. Furthermore, they offer all kinds of control, which are usually not found in other heating systems giving you a more pleasant environment.
