Central Heating protection policies can address a really wide range of problems

A number of insurance policies are available in the market today, there is a policy for your holiday and even for your tv cover!. Of course, some things are more important to get covered than others and, with the likes of motor insurance, you may be legally required to do so. The bank will need the borrower to take out buildings insurance in a case when there is the need for a mortgage to buy a property. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.

Carrying somewhat of a lower degree of importance is central heating system insurance, such as those products from npower Hometeam, Eon and British Gas. The heating system in your house is an expensive component that sometimes suffers costly failures – yet homeowners do not take gas central heating plans as seriously as they should. If you do not have this protection and in case the system stops working, professional help is often not possible immediately, also it doesn’t sound like a great idea to live without heating for any length of time particularly in cold winters. A damaged or badly maintained gas central heating system can leak carbon monoxide gas which can be deadly.

A wide choice of plans exist in the market for both heating boiler servicing and central heating repair. The most basic types are generally just service plans that fulfil the minimum requirements, including annual servicing and safety checks. Maintenance and spare parts coverage are not included in these policies and servicing plans. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their gas boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. This additional money will be a worthwhile payment especially if the heating boiler is approaching its end of life. You can extend your policy to cover other things too, besides the central heating boiler like radiators and other parts of the central heating system or even plumbing, drains and home electrics cover.

Exemptions or limitations which are written into the insurance document should be carefully considered while choosing a policy. Some insurers place an upper limit on the number of repair calls made per year or define a cap level for the cost of maintenance for a specific period. Central heating insurance is like all other types in that you shouldn’t just go for the cheapest deal and always consider whether it has sufficient cover.
